The Historic Sportscar Racing Classic 24 Hour at Daytona for 2021 took place from October 27-31. Instead of one 24-hour race, this event consisted of 24 one-hour (42 minutes of green flag) race sessions. The sessions began on Saturday afternoon, October 30, 2021, and finished the following day.

I had attended this race previously in 2015, its second year.

When HSR announced that Porsche would be the featured marque, I knew I wanted to go back this year. I bought a package of tickets and a Porsche Car Corral parking pass.

Day 1: Saturday

The weather was perfect as I arrived around 2:00 pm. On entering the infield, the first interesting car I saw was a red Classic Mini.

I found the Porsche Car Corral and parked next to a 997 911 GT3. I did a quick photoshoot of my Porsche Boxster.

It was time to wander around the corral and have a look at the other cars, old and new.

When I came back to my car, a classic MG racecar was parked nearby.

Next, I headed over to the Fanzone to watch some racing followed by a trip through the garage area.

One classic and new supercar I have always liked is the Ford GT. It is low and wide with great curves. Here I saw three of them from different generations. First was a classic in the famous Gulf livery. It looked great in the Florida sun.

The next was in silver with an amusing little detail.

The newest and most aggressive-looking was one in white with a massive rear diffuser!

I headed for the row of garages filled with classic Porsche racecars. Types included the 911, 914, and a 356.

There were some other iconic classic marques, including a beautiful Jaguar in typical livery.

Stacked everywhere were classic wheels including the famous Fuchs Porsche wheels (on right).

On the other side of the Fanzone were larger open garages filled with multiple cars. Again, many were Porsche but there were several other marques represented.

Of course, a classic Porsche garage would not be complete without the iconic liveries of Martini Racing and Rothmans.

My tour of the garages completed, I decided to head over to my favorite spot to watch the racing action. The grandstands along the stretch of the road course just after the International Horseshoe provides the best vantage point to see the cars entering the road course, accelerating down the track before braking hard then navigating around the Horseshoe, then accelerating again as they speed on by.

Satisfied for the day, I walked back to the car corral. I took a few more photos of my car in the evening sun before leaving the Speedway.

Day 2: Sunday

I had an extra ticket, so I invited my friend and fellow Porsche-owner, Olga, to join me on Sunday. Again, the weather was absolutely perfect for a day at the races. We arrived a little before noon. The car corral was mostly empty, so I drove around and found another Porsche Boxster to park beside.

We wandered the parking lot for a bit, looking at the cars that interested us. Then we watched the races from the same spot I had the previous day.

We watched a couple of the final sessions, then left the Speedway to find some lunch.
